Excerpt from my Substack:

"Dunnideer hill is based in Insch, Aberdeenshire. I went to primary school here from the age of 7. On top of the hill is a Pictish fort, the oldest parts of the structure dating back to 250 BC. It was later used as a towerhouse in 1260. We used to regualrly walk our dogs here, where I did my brownie promise and where we would go sledging in the winter. Down the left side of the hill near the train tracks, there were always deer grazing. Down the back of the hill there is a recumbent stone circle, constructed in the Bronze Age. Only three of the stones now remain. In the nearby town Inverurie (where I went to secondary school) there is another stone circle, erected over 4000 years ago. I have included these in the painting, outlines hovering in the sky in the direction of the stones; Inverurie to the east, the others west."
